Pseudoceros ferrugineus

A mesmerising ribbon of fuchsia pink, speckled with fine white dots, this flatworm radiates boldness. Its broad, oval body is edged by vivid red and orange bands that ripple in rich concentric folds. As it glides across corals and reef surfaces, those fiery margins undulate like living neon lace, making it look like a living jewel against the reef.

• Size: Up to 48 mm
• Range: Tropical Indo-Pacific; from Indonesia and the Philippines to the Great Barrier Reef and Hawaii
• Habitat / Depth: Coral and rocky substrates, external reef slopes and reef tops, down to ~15 m
• Diet: Feeds on colonial ascidians (sea squirts), engulfing them whole
