Who's Peach?
Meet the women behind the Peach slice.
As we get to know our patrons more and more, I think it's about time we introduce ourselves. In the coming weeks, we'll be sharing our individual stories. I'm certainly not much of a writer but I'll try to translate our story as intelligibly and candidly as I can.
Our production team is composed of 5 women; (from left to right) Ludy, Chak, Nerissa, Remy, and myself (bottom). Ate Ludy and Ate Remy are our resident seamstresses, both have worked alongside me for the past 5 years. The two girls standing in the center are the beaders and finishers; Ate Chak and Ate Neri who’ve worked with me for 2 and 4 years, respectively.
It's never a dull day at the studio. Our workdays are usually filled with a lot of Chak's playful teasing, Nerissa's charming sour-puss attitude, live music from our in-house singer Ludy (singing for her music app fans), and a bit of bible-preaching and debatably witty responses from Remy. Working in a tiny 15-sqm space with very different personalities really has it's way of pushing everyone to get up-close and personal. Surprisingly enough, we've never really had fights before. Well, other than my seasonal stress-induced tantrums but that's something we've all learned to manage-- usually resolved by baby putting herself in the corner.
Having an increasingly growing brand & atelier paired up with a very small team is pretty challenging. Peak months are extra exhausting—we sometimes have to work 12+ hour shifts during certain seasons. Lean months aren't any easier either. There are moments wherein we pour our hearts and souls into pieces that end up unappreciated and are left hanging on the rack, collecting dust. However, despite any circumstance, i've found that the best thing about my team is that we all willingly continue to work each and everyday; not only because we're passionate about our craft but also because we truly enjoy and value each other’s company. I really encourage respectful and collaborative creativity in the studio which means everyone’s inputs and suggestions are heard and applied, I think that plays a big role as to why they enjoy their work with me. We are WearPeach, never I, because without my team there really wouldn’t be a brand.
We’ve been through quite a bit together, they’ve watched me grow as a designer and have seen me constantly grapple with the intricacies and uncertainties of running a business. In the same way, I’ve witnessed them elevate their standards of quality and aesthetic, almost adapting it to mine. We’re still learning the ropes, finding our true direction and singular voice but one thing’s for sure though; we celebrate both our losses and victories together and no matter what, our pride and love for our craft never wavers. We honor resilience and fortitude, so we keep on going, we keep on growing, and we keep on creating.
To whoever is reading this, thank you for aiding in our growth.
